Step One: Choose "Wizard" in the "File" menu or click on the left-most button on the toolbar.
Follow-Up: Here is a picture of what it will look like.
The Ozum Wizard button on the toolbar
Step Two: The first thing that the Wizard will ask you to do is to choose a name for a new project. |
Follow-Up: A project is a working environment that remembers your news-servers, subscribed newsgroups, filters, and other parameters that you set. You must have at least one project, but can have as many of them as you wish, with the option of saving each one in a location of your choice on your hard drives.
Step Three: To work with the large diversity of info on the Usenet, you may find it convenient to group similar newsgroups together. |
Follow-Up: You can do this using projects. For example, you can have a "Music" project, a "Humour" project, a "Family" project, a "Work" project, etc. If you are a dad, you might want to protect your kids or protect yourself from curious kids by creating a "DadsOwn" project and locking it with a password. Kids (nor anyone else) won't be able to open such a project. Also, it is a good idea to lock Ozum so that a password is required to add a new newsgroup to a project. If this is done, no undesired newsgroup can be added to a project, and thus accessed, without this password. |
Step Four: At this point, it is also useful to understand what a job is in Ozum. |
Follow-Up: Almost any set of actions that Ozum has to perform in order to get information from a news-server, or post information to a news-server, is framed as a job. Ozum creates jobs automatically when prompted by user actions. Some are performed automatically and deleted immediately after completion of the required task. An example of such a job is reading headers of new articles from a newsgroup. Other jobs are required to be started and deleted manually, for example, downloading selected articles or posting files. A third type of job, like scanning newsgroups, can be used multiple times or programmed for periodic automatic use. |
Step Five: Now you are ready and may connect to the UsenetREVOLUTION newsgroups! |
Follow-Up: Follow the Wizard prompts until you have connected to news.usenetrevolution.com and subscribed to a few newsgroups. You will have news.usenetrevolution.com shown in the bottom left corner area of the Ozum window. Click on the "+" next to our server name or double click on our server name. It will open as a hard drive would open. Double click on any subscribed newsgroup. A list of available articles will be downloaded and shown. |
That's It: Congratulations! You have started. |
